Pepsi supports scholarships for military children

US Veteran Military drivers from Pepsi carry flag across country

Pepsi launched the fifth annual Rolling Remembrance fundraiser on April 15. During the 9,000-mile relay, U.S. military veteran company drivers carried an American flag from Seattle to the PepsiCo Beverages North America office in New York.

Established by PepsiCo in 2015, the event benefits the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation, which provides college scholarships and educational counseling to children whose parents have lost their lives in the military.

Through May 23, drivers transported the flag via more than 50 relay locations. The flag was first flown on a UH-60M Blackhawk Helicopter in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom in 2012. Every year during Rolling Remembrance, this symbol of freedom travels across America in alignment with two awareness months: the Month of the Military Child and Military Appreciation Month.

Drivers passed through the Carolinas in May, making ceremonial stops in cities including Columbia, St. Pauls and Winston-Salem.

Pepsi's history of giving back to Fallen Patriots

"PepsiCo's generosity and caring has provided over 140 years of college for children whose parents made the ultimate sacrifice for our country," said David Kim, co-founder and CEO of the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation.

Over the years, the event has raised more than $860,000 to support the organization.

"Rolling Remembrance is a crucial reminder to the families we serve that their fellow Americans will never forget their sacrifice,” Kim said. “We are honored to partner with PepsiCo and very grateful for their efforts."
